India is an agricultural country and agriculture is the backbone of India. Apart from being a source of daily bread, Indian agriculture greatly affects rural life at economic, social and intellectual levels. The level of Indian agriculture and agricultural practices are directly related to the living standard of the farming community. Agriculture has been an activity dependent on natural factors for centuries. Despite of continuous hard work, many times the farmer cannot get the expected production due to natural calamities. The current situation of global warming and climate change is making this problem more serious. Hence, the need of the hour is to empower the agricultural community, passionately engaged in the world's toughest profession-"Agriculture" amid natural and economic uncertainties.
Constructive reforms in the Indian agricultural system are very necessary to boost the rural economy and raise the standard of living of the people. For this, there is a need to use scientific research and latest technology in the agricultural sector on a large scale so that the benefits of the latest technology can be extended unto the last farmer.
